Our ethos at LS-TEN is to:

“Provide a safe and secure environment for both children and adults through sport and education”

What does Safeguarding & Child Protection mean?

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children means:

  • Providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge.

  • Protecting children from maltreatment, whether that is within or outside the home, including online.

  • Preventing impairment of children’s mental or physical health or development

  • Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care

  • Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes

Child protection is part of this definition and refers to activities undertaken to prevent children suffering, or being likely to suffer, significant harm.

Our aims for Safeguarding at LS-TEN

LS-TEN is dedicated to the safeguarding of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. The Charity is fully committed to the safety and well-being of all learners, staff and those who have direct links with Charity including offsite and subcontracting providers.

The charity aims to ensure that:

  • Appropriate action is taken in a timely manner to safeguard and promote children’s welfare

  • All staff are aware of their statutory responsibilities with respect to safeguarding

  • Staff are properly trained in recognising and reporting safeguarding issue.

The staff of LS-TEN take as our first priority the responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of our students, to minimise risk and to work together with other agencies to ensure rigorous arrangements are in place within the charity to identify, assess and support those children who are suffering harm and to keep them safe and secure whilst in our care.

The responsibilities of safeguarding are for all members of our school community including students, staff, governors, visitors/contractors, volunteers and trainees working within the charity.

Safeguarding is fully incorporated into the whole charity ethos and is underpinned throughout the teaching of the curriculum, within PSHE and within the safety of the physical environment provided for the students.
